The Palmer Institute for Public Library Organization and Management and the School of Continuing Education and Professional Studies, C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University is partnering with the Mid-Hudson Library System to offer a comprehensive management training program for public library administrators in our region. The core component of the project is the Advanced Certificate Program in Public Library Administration. Successful participants in this fifteen-credit post–MLS program will receive an Advanced Certificate in Public Library Administration recognized by the New York State Education Department.
Courses begin in September 2007 at the Albany Public Library. There are 5 courses, offered in 7-8 half-day sessions, tentatively scheduled for Thursdays September 6, 13, 27, October 4, 11, 25, and November 1. Cost is $900 per participant per course.
This is a great opportunity for librarians to prepare themselves for the challenges of public administration. Since the program began over ten years ago, over 90 people have completed the program.
