Managing Risk is an important role that every member of your library team can be part of.
This full day workshop will cover the follwing areas in depth:
- General Safety – Will provide an overview of safety on the job and the impact it has on employees as well as the employer.
- Violence in the Workplace – Gain an understanding of violence in the workplace, whether as the result of internal of external froces and its effects on safety and health; as well as ways to prevent and reduce violence in the workplace.
- Proper Lifting Techniques – understanding body mechanics as it relates to lifting; understanding the stresses placed on the back when lifting incorrectly; learning how to avoid injury by using proper lifting techniques.
- Workers’ Compensation – Learn why the system was established; when and when not to file a claim; what is and is not a ‘Workers’ Comp’ incident; and the impact of the recently enacted Workers’ Compensation Reform Legislation on both employee and the employer.
Presenters: Speakers will be representatives from the NY State Insurance Fund as well as the 497 New York State Public Entities Safety Group.
