Join MVLS staff for the annual NYLA Lobby Day, March 11 in Albany. Our message: Restore $5 million in Library Aid cut in 2008-09 Executive Budget; Support book aid for all libraries; Make the library and construction aid increases from last year permanent. Your help is needed to tell the library story to our state legislators.
The appointment schedule is as follows:
8:30 AM Legislative Breakfast – Meeting Room 6, Empire State Plaza Concourse
9:30 AM Assemblyman James Tedisco – LOB Room 933
10:00 AM Assemblyman Marc Butler – LOB Room 318
10:30 AM Assemblyman Peter Lopez – LOB Room 429
11:30 AM – Noon NYLA Rally – Meeting Room 6, Empire State Plaza Concourse
12:30 PM Assemblyman George Amedore – LOB Room 426
1:00 PM Senator Hugh Farley – LOB Room 412
1:30 PM Senator James Seward – LOB Room 917
If you or representatives of your library are planning to attend, please let Kathy Insero (firstname.lastname@example.org) know. We will again provide transportation from the MVLS Service Center to Albany. It is critically important that legislators hear from their constituents of the need for this additional money to libraries. Only you can give that perspective.
Also, visit NYLA’s Advocacy Center for talking points, statistics, and to contact your local officials electronically regarding library funding.
