This workshop will offer a range of dynamic stories and activities that will engage the children in any early childhood and early elementary setting. Drawing from Gordh’s new book, Stories in Action, (Libraries, Unlimited. 2006), we will explore folktale fingerplays, the art of storytelling and how to move stories into literacy building experiences for young children. Institute will also include retelling stories and working from picture books.
Topics covered to include:
1. Great stories to share
2. Literacy building activities grow from stories
3. Folktale fingerplays to share with children allowing them to become storytellers
4. Models for creative writing
