The first Wii Fun Program workshop was held today at the Fort Plain Free Library. Those libraries participating in Wii programming for older adults; Amsterdam Free Library, Fort Plain Free Library, Canajoharie Library and Arkell Museum, Margaret Reaney Memorial Library in St. Johnsville and the Rotterdam Branch of the Schenectady County Public Library received all the materials they will need to get their Wii Fun Programs up and running. Trevor Oakley, our Wii “guru”, instructed the group on the proper set-up of the gaming system and discussed some programming ideas. After some instruction came the fun! Some of the participants stepped up and tried their hands at baseball, doing both batting and pitching, and saw how easy it was to use and how much fun to play.
The Wii Fun Program, sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Library System and participating libraries, is made possible, in part, with Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds awarded to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.
