Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene wreaked tremendous damage on two Mohawk Valley Library System libraries in Schoharie County.  Both the Middleburgh Library and the Schoharie Free Library are currently closed and cleaning up from the storm.

Both libraries are grateful for the offers of donations and help received from the library community.  However, right now the libraries are coping with repairing and drying out their facilities, so financial donations and gift cards are the best way to aid them.

Donations may be sent to:

Middleburgh Library
323 Main Street
PO Box 670
Middleburgh, New York 12122

Schoharie Free Library
PO Box 519
Schoharie, New York 12157-0519

Photos of the damage to the Schoharie Free Library and cleanup are available at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/schoharielibrary/

Several local bookstores have graciously established funds to help both libraries rebuild their collections that were lost during the storm.  Stop in to one of the following bookstores to make a donation in any amount; all stores are also accepting donations via credit card over the telephone.

The Book House of Stuyvesant Plaza in Guilderland – (518) 489-4761
