Date: Thursday, April 3, 2014
Time: 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM (9:00 AM check in and library tour)
Place: Johnstown Public Library
Cost: $10 per person for materials. (Fee waived for MVLS libraries through New York State Family Literacy Library Services Grant funds)
Join us to explore how to present earth, space science, and engineering activities from the Lunar and Planetary Institute; and weather, sound and electricity activities from our 4H partners at your library this summer! Participants will be introduced to this year’s 4 H NYS partnership program, and to the Explore program modules of the Lunar and Planetary Institute. Both are STEM friendly and easily presented by library staff and volunteers for library programs. MVLS libraries can use your library’s summer reading program minigrant to pay for consumable supplies for these programs, or to hire someone to present these programs.
For MVLS libraries only: Each participating library will receive a $25 travel reimbursement for attending, and your workshop fee will be covered by the Family Literacy Summer Reading Program grant. Two incentives for attendance: a tour of Johnstown’s Picture Book City AND MVLS preview books will be brought and up for grabs.
