The Brunswick Community Library is seeking an energetic and creative leader with a passionate commitment to public library service for the position of Library Director.
The Library Director reports to the Board of Trustees and holds primary responsibility for the overall operation and management of the Library. Duties include, but are not limited to: planning and implementation of library programs and services, fiscal oversight and budget management, supervision of library personnel, and management of the library facility. As an official representative of the library to the Brunswick Community, the Library Director demonstrates an enthusiasm for community engagement and establishes effective working relationships throughout the community.
The Brunswick Community Library strives to provide access to information, opportunities for lifelong learning, and a gathering place for the community. A Free Association Library serving a user population of 12,000, the Brunswick Community Library has a total annual operating budget of $175,000, and occupies a beautiful 2,400 square foot facility.
The minimum qualifications for this position are a Master’s Degree in library science or equivalent from a school that is accredited by the American Library Association or recognized by the New York State Education Department; a New York State Public Librarian certification; and at least three years of professional experience that includes some supervisory and administrative experience.
This is a full-time position with a competitive benefits package and a starting salary range of $40,000-45,000, commensurate with experience.
