The Capital District Library Council (CDLC) is pleased to announce a grant to our member libraries to digitize their newspapers and add them to NYS Historic Newspapers. New York State Historic Newspapers provides free online access to a wide range of newspapers published throughout New York State. It is administered by one of CDLC’s partner councils, Northern New York Library Network.
For this pilot grant, your newspapers must be on microfilm. If you are interested in being considered for this grant, please complete and submit the either the online or print application form by January 11, 2016.
All CDLC member libraries are eligible for these grants. Individual public and school libraries are also eligible. The number of grant recipients and the amount of grant awards will be dependent on the response. Preference will be given to long and complete runs of newspapers. If the title includes papers published after 1922, copyright clearance must be obtained. More information about copyright clearance can be found on the NYS Historic Newspapers tools page under “Additional Contribution Information” at http://tools.nyshistoricnewspapers.org
If you have questions about the grant, please contact Susan D’Entremont at CDLC. For questions about the NYS Historic Newspapers project and its specifications, please contact John Hammond.
