Arkell Hall, Canajoharie, NY

Arkell Hall

Now part of a local senior citizens center, this home was built in the 1850s for a local businessman. By the mid-1870s, James Arkell, one of the owners of the Arkell and Smith's Company lived in the house. Members of the family stayed there until the early 1950s, when the house was opened as a nursing facility. The gardens have several works of art and has won prizes in the past.
