Canajoharie Library and Art Gallery, Canajoharie, NY

Library & Gallery

This building was built in 1924, replacing a single room above a local drug store. The land and funds for the construction of the library were provided by Bartlett Arkell, president of Beech-Nut Packing company. This was one of several local projects he funded in the mid-1920s. These projects helped to calm a rumor that the company was for sale to a large mid-Western food manufacturer.
