Village Apothecary, Canajoharie, NY

Village Apothecary

This building replaced an older bank building built in the 1840s and destroyed by fire in 1877. The stone construction would have been considered a major improvement over the easily burnt wood used in the buildings of the mid-1800s. In the 1920s, the Spraker and Canajoharie National Banks merged. At that time, this building became the home of a local savings and loan. That bank did business at this site until the late 1990s, when a local drug store moved in.
