Stone Church - Stone Arabia, Canajoharie, NY

Stone Church - Stone Arabia

One of the oldest churches in the area, this building was completed in the 1770s. The date can be seen on the clue. In the 1700s, Stone Arabia was one of several local communities growing crops for the revolutionary armies. These farms were raided in 1780 by forces loyal to Britain in a campaign known as the Burning of the Valley. A brief battle was fought not far from the church.
