The
Community Library, Union Street, Cobleskill, NY

The
Community Library Building on Union Street in the village of Cobleskill
was originally built as a High School in 1884. The Cobleskill Public
Library (now The Community Library) purchased the front half of the
building in 1936 and has been in operation on this site ever since.
In 1996, the Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District sold the
back portion to the library.
The
building has served as the site for the Town of Cobleskill Offices,
the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the Town Historian, Schoharie
County Arts Council, Iroquois Museum, and the meeting place of numerous
community groups.
