Scholet Furniture - Former Hotel Augustan

The Hotel Augustan was built in 1874 on the site of the National Hotel which burned in a disastrous fire in 1873, destroying several buildings on Main Street in the Village of Cobleskill.

It is known for its prominence in downtown Cobleskill, its architecture, decoration and design. It currently serves as Scholet's Furniture, and still serves as a landmark. Many still remember having tea in its coffee shop. Teddy Roosevelt spoke on the steps in 1912, promoting his campaign for the Presidency against Taft and Wilson.
