St. Paul's & Zion Lutheran Church, West Main Street, Richmondville, NY

St. Paul's & Zion Lutheran Church

The history of Lutheranism in Richmondville began in 1831 when John Selmser, new graduate of Hartwick Seminary, came and began preaching. The first house of worship was a barn which was flooded and swept away in the flood of 1885. A Lutheran Church has stood on the current site since 1876. In 1900 the decision was made to build a new structure, which is the structure now standing with some new additions. The church is noted for its beautiful stained glass windows and magnificent pipe organ.
