What did the Library look like when it moved into the building in 1936?

Structurally, it looked very much like it does today. We have a photograph of the Director, Mrs. Van Deusen, sitting at the same circulation desk we have now. The chairs and display tables are the same, the bookshelves around the walls between the window, and the windows all remain the same. The ledge where people placed their returned books is the exact same ledge.

Has the collection in the Library changed?

Oh yes! When the library moved in, it had 8,000 books. Now, it has 18,000 items, including videocassettes, CD's, audiobooks, software, AND the addition of eleven computers! -- So you can understand that we are very crowded.

Are there plans to expand?

We are currently moving into an additional room on the first floor to help give us some breathing space. This is the first step in helping to make more room for our ever-growing collection.
