The Jewish Community Center, Gloversville, NY

Jewish Community Center

The Jewish Community Center, located on East Fulton Street in Gloversville still stands in its original form and with its original purpose. The actual name is the "Lucius N. Littauer Building" as it was built with funds from this well-known local philanthropist, industrialist, and congressman.

The building opened in 1930 and was an important site for community events both in the Jewish Community and the whole city. Looking at the building one can see the Art-Deco influences that were prevalent at the time of the building's design and construction.

Nowadays, membership is open to the general public, with swimming and gymnasium facilities available. It also contains a Jewish library and hosts various events.
