Memorial Hall - Kasson Opera House, Gloversville, NY

Memorial Hall

Located at 26-38 North Main Street and built by AJ Kasson, a prosperous glove manufacturer, the Kasson Opera House opened in 1880. At the time and for many years after it was the only major theater of its kind in the area.

In 1920 the Schine brothers purchased the building and converted the theater area from one floor to two. They also made it their headquarters for their entire organization. Later the theater took the name, The Family Theater.

The building, now called Memorial Hall, is now office space with a card and gift store in the ground floor shop front.
