Johnstown Hotel, Johnstown, NY

Johnstown Hotel

This hotel is one of the youngest buildings on the tour. It opened in 1927 to the delight of the entire city. In a unique effort, the Johnstown Business Men's Association formed a Hotel committee. Their responsibility was to investigate the possibility of financing a much needed new hotel. It took two years of work, but eventually public stock was sold and in just over 48 hours $200,000 was raised. For over fifty years it served as a perfect setting for travelers to rest, weddings, reunions and special events to be held.

Several owners have had control through the years, but it has remained unused over the last decade. Currently it is being remodeled by a local telecommunications company. It will be brought back to its original beauty and once again become a welcome, active addition to our historical Main St.
