City Hall, Johnstown, NY

City Hall

This building in the center of Johnstown houses many City Departments. It is here one can speak with the Mayor, purchase a permit, pay taxes, or seek the aid of the police.

City Hall offices originally were housed at 21 South William Street and were on the second floor above the Fire Department. Unfortunately, a terrible fire in 1925 destroyed those offices. Both the third and fourth floor was damaged beyond repair forcing the city to build a new facility.

This more modern building was dedicated October 18, 1927. Today it has undergone some minor changes, but basically remains as it was first designed over 70 years ago.
