Tiffany's,
Delanson, NY
(currently Lucia's Market)

In
1891 Philistes and Culina Tiffany transferred the property they owned
on Route 20, also known as Western Turnpike, to William Tiffany. It
included the house and acreage on the north side of the road and acreage
on the south side of the road. William and his son James F. Tiffany
opened for business soon after selling kerosene and other farm goods.
Their mercantile store was located in the building that is now Lucia's
liquor store.
All
kinds of merchandise was sold there like canned food, fresh fruits and
vegetables as well as yarn, flour, and oats. They even had one of the
first soda dispensing machines that were built in that time. In the
1920s the Tiffanys also built two showrooms for selling cars, used cars
in one showroom, and new cars in another. They sold Chrysler and Ford
automobiles, tractors, auto, and machine parts. One showroom was eventually
torn down and the other is now used for storage. In 1943 William died
and the property passed to James F. Tiffany.
The
stores were eventually sold to the Leveillees. They added on and modernized
the current store. Today they operate a gas station and feed store just
east of the original store which still goes by the name of Tiffany's.
The Leveillees sold the original store and other buildings to the Lucias.
They have expanded the grocery store, which was originally the shop
where cars were serviced in the 1920s, and opened a liquor store in
the original mercantile.
