The Mohawk Condensed Milk Factory, North Division Street,
St. Johnsville, NY

Mohawk Condensed Milk Factory

In 1892 Frank Gebbie and Michael Doyle established the Mohawk Condensed Milk Factory. According to early press reports, milk was drawn to the cannery by horse and wagon from surrounding dairy farms. By the time the company was sold in 1921, satellite operations had been established in Colorado, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Iowa. Mr. Gebbie's holdings were eventually sold to the Carnation Milk Company. The building was converted for textile manufacturing and at present is not used.
