Reaney Carriage House, Kingsbury Avenue, St. Johnsville, NY

Reaney Carriage House

Built in 1897 by Otto Fox, this carriage house was later purchased by Joseph Reaney. Known throughout the Mohawk Valley for their lavish garden parties and dances, the Reaneys converted the upstairs oat bin and hay mow into a dance floor in 1918. Reaney's home was on the adjacent property, and the Fox home located a short distance from the carriage house became the Reaney's chauffeurs residence. The property is now privately owned.
