How did they get here, the Engelhardts?
I guess they just looked for a place to set up business. As I understand it the factory on Hough Street was not where they started. There was another wooden building that they were in and I think it was someplace by East Liberty because according to the fire records in 1880 something there was an Englehardt factory that burned. I think what it was he went into kind of a woodworking shop that somebody else had, a cabinet maker or something is where he first actually started out.
