Aquatint. Printed lithograph. William Bartlett. Village of Little Falls.
10.5 x 8.5 inches. London, George Virtue, 1839. Between 1836 and 1837, the author N.P. Willis and artist, William Bartlett traveled through much of the country. The trip resulted in the production of a book called Picturesque America, first published in this country in 1840. The print is part of a series of engravings produced in Britain, published for the European Market, prior to the release of all but a few of the chapters of the book in England. |
