After 1932, Beech-Nut began to eliminate the production of jams and jellies in favor of infant and junior foods, at first produced in the same machinery that had been used for its preserves. Many of its early brochures such as this one suggest an early weaning of an infant's diet from milk (either mother’s or bottle) to strained foods perhaps as early as one month of age. Today, such early changes in diet are considered unhealthy by most doctors. |
