This book printed in 1863, (when Fulton County was still part of Montgomery County) features a colored fold-out map of New York State counties, as well as information on the counties, cities, towns and villages. Also in the book is a colonial history of New York and "the penal code-the system of prison discipline-that for the relief of pauperism-and a general statistical account of the population, manufacturers and commerce of the state." In 1863, Gloversville had two stores, one carding mill, one clothdressing mill, two sawmills and thirty dwellings. |
