Sir William Johnson
R B Joh  Sir William Johnson 30.5 x 35.6 cm oak framed print of Sir William Johnson.

This print of Sir William Johnson represents the extensive collection of materials that document Sir William’s life in Johnstown.  Included in the collection are his 13 Volume Papers and a copy of his 1774 ledger with tenant information from his large land holdings.  Sir William was instrumental in the development of upstate New York. As Superintendent of Indian Affairs, it is widely believed his relationship with Native Americans enabled New York to be secured as a part of the colonies, rather than be annexed to Canada.
