MEM 2 Bronze: "Nubian Slave Defending the Christians." 96.5 cm
This large sculpture by Gustav Jean Jacquet depicts an African man, holding a spear that he has thrust into the eye of a lion in defense of a mother and child. The piece was cast circa 1880 and is over 2 ½ ' tall. Many of Jacquet's sculpture pieces have religious or biblical themes, and this piece is reflective of that. |
