  • Autism Training and Resources for Libraries
    The Scotch Plains Public Library and the Fanwood Memorial Library in New Jersey produced a customer service training video and website primarily for library staff to help them serve individuals with autism and their families more effectively. The video focuses on what you need to know about autism and will empower you with specific techniques to offer more inclusive service to this growing and underserved population.  Many additional resources for libraries are also included along with helpful background information.
  • Center for Universal Design
    Promotes accessible universal design for everyone. Focuses on housing, commercial and public environments, outdoor environments, and products.
  • Irlen Institute
    Uses color filters to help with reading difficulties.  This page shows some of the distortion eddects that some readers experience.
  • LD Online 
    Information about all kinds of learning disabilities for adults and children.  Bulletin boards, workshops about learning disabilities, information for teachers, finding help, and more.
  • New York State Talking Book and Braille Library
    Provides talking books, books in braille, equipment, and other special format material to eligible borrowers in New York.
  • Learning Ally
    A collection of digitally recorded textbook and literature titles, downloadable and accessible on mainstream s well as specialized assistive technology devices.  Membership required.
  • Upstate Access Guide 2004
    New York’s Capital-Saratoga-Adirondack regional source for disability issues and information. Featuring an interactive accessibility guide by people with disabilities for people with disabilities.
  • WMHT’s RISE Program
    Radio information service for the blind and print disabled. A free special radio receiver is required for access to readings of local and national newspapers, popular periodicals, books and specialty programming. It is available 24 hrs. a day.
