Margaret Reaney Memorial Library is seeking an enthusiastic, community-minded, and forward-thinking Library Director to lead our library and serve as a trusted resource for the community. The Director will oversee daily operations, develop and manage the library budget, supervise staff, support collections and programming, and build strong relationships with patrons, community organizations, local government, and other partners.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative leader who values excellent customer service, lifelong learning, and community engagement. We are looking for a collaborative and approachable leader who can balance the day-to-day responsibilities of running a library with a vision for its future. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with community members, supporting staff development, embracing new technologies, and identifying creative ways to make the library an essential part of the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day library operations and services.
Recruit, supervise, train, and evaluate library staff.
Develop and manage the annual library budget and monitor expenditures.
Oversee collection development, technology, facilities, and library programs.
Develop engaging programs and services that respond to community needs.
Promote the library through outreach, marketing, and community partnerships.
Work effectively with the Library Board of Trustees and municipal officials.
Pursue grants, donations, and other funding opportunities when appropriate.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and professional standards.
Required qualifications:
Completion of Bachelor’s degree.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to providing outstanding public service.
Preferred qualifications:
Management or supervisory experience.
Experience developing community partnerships and public programs.
Grant-writing or fundraising experience.
Familiarity with current library technology and emerging trends.
Experience working in museums.
Employment Type: Flexible, we will consider full or part time
Salary Range $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
