Reading Between the Lines (RBTL) is the NY Council for the Humanities’ book discussion program for adults who want to explore humanities topics in depth. Each series involves four conversations centered on thematically linked books and is facilitated by a humanities scholar. In Fall 2012, only two Reading Between the Lines series will be available, Making Sense of the Civil War and Lincoln on the Civil War. Both series are related to the Civil War, in honor of the ongoing Sesquicentennial commemorations locally and nationally.Reading Between the Lines is hosted by museums, historical societies, libraries and community centers statewide. Apply by June 08, 2012 for programs to be held in Fall 2012. If your library has already hosted a Reading Between the Lines series, you are eligible to apply for a grant of up to $1000 to support future reading and discussion group activities.
