Job Posting – Library Director, Gloversville Public Library

The Gloversville Public Library seeks an enthusiastic, forward-thinking, and community-minded individual for the position of Library Director I to implement its new plan of service in a recently renovated facility.

The Gloversville Public Library is located in Fulton County, at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.  It serves the residents of the Gloversville Enlarged School District, population 19,244. The Library completed a $9.2 million renovation of its Beaux Arts Carnegie building in 2018. The Library’s 2019-20 operating budget is $665,000. In addition to the Director, the library includes a staff of 7 FT and 9 PT, a strong Friends organization, and a separately incorporated Foundation.

The Library Director I plans, organizes, directs and is responsible for the operations and activities of the Library through the adherence of NYS laws and the Library’s policies within the annual operating budget determined by the Board of Trustees. The Library Director oversees and evaluate the development and execution of educational and cultural programs, collection development, supervision and development of staff, communication with the community, care of the Library’s facility, grounds and equipment, and recommends policies and goals. The person in this position must be a positive and flexible individual who enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds, has outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and will provide leadership as the administrative branch of the library’s governance.

The Gloversville Public Library is a Civil Service employer and applicants must possess the minimum qualifications for Library Director I in order to apply.

2020 annual salary:  $45,000 – $55,000
