Please join with community volunteers and library workers who support Friends of the Library organizations statewide at FLS Connections!  This series of conversations continues on February 28.  Each virtual gathering has a specific topic.  Invited speakers share with everyone informally, followed by open mics where everyone can participate and provide their own groups’ experiences and ideas.

The Friends of Libraries Section of the New York Library Association is very excited to welcome Jillian Wentworth, Manager of Marketing & Membership for United for Libraries, for our next FLS Connections on Wednesday, February 28 at 4 p.m.  The session will end at 5:15 p.m.

Jillian will present “Making the Most of National Friends of Libraries Week,” highlighting creative ways that library supporters from across the country celebrate their good work.  United for Libraries, The Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations, a division of the American Library Association, coordinates National Friends of Libraries Week every year in October.  This year’s dates are October 20-26, 2024.

Join us to learn how National Friends of Libraries Week can give your group a boost.  You’ll be well prepared to get a team of volunteers together to make this October’s celebration a fantastic event!

Please send a message to FLS at FLSregister@yahoo.com indicating your interest to attend.  Put Connections in the subject line.  In the message, please give your first and last name and the Friends group or library you are representing.  These sessions are not archived.  There is no charge to attend.  Prior to the session, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom access code and any other pertinent information.  Registration will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, February 26. The Friends of Libraries Section is a unit of the New York Library Association.  FLS’s mission is to create a network to connect and inspire Friends groups in all types of libraries to support the New York library community.  NYLA offers both personal and organizational memberships for Friends of the Library groups.  Learn more at https://www.nyla.org/friends.
